LEED Certification: Green Initiatives

Leadership in ENERGY and Environmental Design (LEED)Jack Evans Police HQ, Dallas TX
was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council in 2000 to provide building owners and operators a framework to identify and implement practical and measurable green building design, construction, and maintenance and operation solutions. Green building design utilizes sustainable and long-term cost effective materials and practices to create energy efficient structures with small environmental footprints.

LEED promotes sustainable building and development practices through a set of rating systems that recognize projects that implement strategies for better environmental and health performance.

NCTCOG LEED certification is working to educate and inform local governments on the environmental and economic benefits of LEED certified buildings.

Local Examples:

Dallas Convention Center – Dallas, Texas

JC Penny Home Office – Plano, Texas

SMU Embrey Engineering Building – Dallas, Texas

Old Navy – Fort Worth, Texas
